Tight Yoga Pants Buyers Guide
Yoga pants have become sort of a fashion statement especially among fitness enthusiasts. Of all types of yoga clothes, the tight yoga pants have proven to be a keeper as they are also perfect for other sports like running, Pilates, tennis, and weight-lifting. If you are on the lookout for some tight yoga pants for yoga’s sake, be reminded that there will be some things to consider before buying. So before swiping that credit card or checking out your online basket, read on for tips on choosing the perfect tight yoga pants.
Types of Tight Yoga Pants
There are way too many types of yoga pants out there. But perhaps three of the most popular – and maybe even most comfortable – of these tight yoga pants are stretching, microfiber, and drawstring yoga pants. Each will have their own advantages and disadvantages.
Stretching yoga pants are made of a higher percentage of spandex versus other types. Because of this, this type can be very form-fitting and thus easier to move in. Some people though – especially those who are still very conscious about their figures – may feel uncomfortable in stretching yoga pants.
Microfiber yoga pants, like stretching yoga pants, are very form-fitting. Aside from spandex, this type of tight yoga pants is also made of nylon. The materials help in improving one’s flexibility.
Drawstring yoga pants, on the other hand, are not as form-fitting as the two previous tight yoga pants. As the word suggests, this type uses a drawstring to keep the pants stable on your hips. This type is perfect for those who want a more customizable and relaxed fit.
What to Consider When You Buy Tight Yoga Pants
Despite the name, tight yoga pants need not be too tight. Wearing too tight yoga pants mean your skin won’t be able to breathe and you won’t be able to move freely to do the asanas. They have only gained the name because yoga pants need to be as close to the skin as possible without suffocating it.
When purchasing tight yoga pants, you would have to consider where you’re going to be doing yoga. If it’s in a public place, like the gym or the park or even community centers, it would be best to choose tight yoga pants that are high-waisted. This is to avoid your pants slipping down the waist and showing more than what you intend.
Another thing to take note of is the fabric used. Since you will be sweating a lot, a material that easily absorbs sweat is necessary. Natural fabrics should be preferred over synthetic ones. Look for labels that have cotton, spandex, or Lycra.
Also, stay away from material with fading colors. You do not want the colors to bleed as you do your yoga poses. Speaking of colors, remember that some fabric color may show off sweat easier than others. Choose darker colors like royal blue or black over brown or gray.
How Much You Will Have to Spend
There are lots of cheap tight yoga pants in malls, with prices ranging from $20 to $30. The thing with cheap yoga clothes, though, is that they may not be too durable and can therefore not withstand all the stretching and bending that you will be doing in yoga. So if you want tight yoga pants that will last for a long time, be prepared to spend at least $50 to as much as $100. These durable yoga pants are available in specialized yoga shops online and in popular female clothing lines and sports brands.
